Famed techno DJ/producer Chris Liebing will release his Another Day full-length via Mute on November 19.

The follow-up to 2018’s Burn Slow will feature a selection of collaborations with Polly Scattergood, Ralf Hildenbeutel, Ladan, Tom Adams and Maria Uzor.

Miles Cooper Seaton, a founding member of the experimental rock band Akron/Family who passed away in February in a single-car accident, appears in one of his last performances.

Mute Records founder Daniel Miller also lends his touch to the ten-song full-length. “Daniel’s input was just incredible,” says Liebing. “He brought his modular setup in our studio and he added this extra flavor.”

To afford the collaborators the ability to drive the direction of the songs, Liebing says that he “wanted to take myself out of it as much as possible,” adding, “I’m a strong believer in letting the moment decide what’s happening.”

To complement the album’s digital release, Another Day will be available on double clear vinyl and CD – both of which brandish a silver finish and 16-page booklet.

Beatsource has unveiled the beta version of a new web-based app purpose-built to help DJs work more quickly and efficiently.

Beatsource DJ features built-in MIDI connectivity, tools for previewing track-to-track mixes and ramped-up search functionality for browsing the store’s tracks.

Even better, the app also enhances the company’s LINK subscription ecosystem and connects a DJ’s music library into all widely used DJ performance software and hardware devices from Pioneer, Denon, Serato DJ, Hercules and more.

Online music retailer Beatport will begin accepting bitcoin as payment from customers beginning in June. The store says it is the first dance music retailer to do so.

In related news, Beatport has partnered with Crypto.com to release an NFT created by Berlin-based Leif Podhajsky, Music for Future Dance Floors, to be released on April 23.

The collection will feature exclusive, unreleased tracks from Sasha, Charlotte De Witte, Boyz Noize, Pan-Pot, a new collaboration between Nic Fanciulli and Alec Monopoly called Sold As Seen, and a bonus track from Sama’ Abdulhadi.

This rare collection, the first of a series of A/V compilations planned from Beatport, will also feature emerging artists including Alignment, Third Son, Anna Lann and Risa Taniguchi that will join each established star in mini drops priced at $303 each.  All ten tracks will then be packaged with bonus material as a 10-of-10 auction, and will include the bonus track, four guest passes to one show for each artist and extra visual content. A portion of the proceeds will be contributed to charity, including a carbon offset donation from Beatport.

Earl Simmons, the rapper/songwriter/actor known globally as DMX, has died. He was 50 years old. Simmons had been hospitalized in White Plains, NY after he suffered a heart attack. Def Jam Recordings has issued the following statement on his passing:

Def Jam Recordings and the extended Def Jam family of artists, executives and employees are deeply and profoundly saddened by the loss of our brother Earl “DMX” Simmons. DMX was a brilliant artist and an inspiration to millions around the world. His message of triumph over struggle, his search for the light out of darkness, his pursuit of truth and grace brought us closer to our own humanity. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who loved him and were touched by him. DMX was nothing less than a giant. His legend will live on forever.
