Known for his tracks on Dirtybird and CUFF, house maestro Sirus Hood swooped into America at the beginning of September for a whirlwind four-city string of DJ dates. The Parisian DJ/producer is by no means a stranger on this side of the Atlantic, having toured extensively in February with kindred musical spirit Sacha Robotti.
Here’s what Hood had to say about his recent set of DJ dates: “This North American tour was very intense, and so worth the endless traveling. I got to see so many new things, like the Niagara Falls, the CN Tower in Toronto, the mythical vinyl shop called Detroit Threads, new cities like Buffalo. I am very happy and grateful to be able to discover new parts of the North America that I didn’t know about.”
Those who weren’t able to see Hood should rest easy knowing that his return to America is imminent. “I can’t wait for my next time in the US, for DirtyBird Campout and Bar Smith in Phoenix beginning of October.”
In the meantime, we asked him to wax poetic about five tracks that are currently dominating his sets
Paul Johnson – Groove Melody (Original Mix)
Paul Johnson is one of my biggest inspirations as well as the genre of this track being from the Chicago house scene from the ’90s. This track is one of my favorites and really drives people crazy, including me.
wAFF – Karimba (Original Mix)
I love wAFF’s productions. His tracks are always fun to play! At the moment, I love playing this one. Jumpy grooves!
Syap – Go Up (Original Mix)
I’m very proud of my brother, Syap. His new EP on Cajual is amazing. This track is my fave; it destroys the dance floor!
&ME – The Rapture (Original Mix)
This music is the perfect deep-house track to me. It’s so dreamy, a real pleasure to listen and play. It gives shivers!
Caal, Baum – Downtown Beat (Original Mix)
Crazy tune this is! Very effective and always brings smiles to everyone’s faces.
