Emerging Madrid-based producer Hugo Saval makes music for the dance floor under the Apollo’s Messengers moniker. Saval often works with Spanish production duo EKDK — brothers Enrique and David Kado — on collaborations fueled by their mutual love for deep melodies and compelling techno.
In April the trio presented their first collaborative effort entitled Changes EP for Alex Kaspersky and Sviatoslav Tvardovsky’s Kiev-based label Dear Deer Records, and there’s plenty more music on the way from these upstarts.
We recently connected with Saval and asked the up-and-comer to share five tracks he currently can’t live without.
Emmanuel Russ – “Continuum”
Out on Emmanuel’s new label, Lunar, “Continuum” is an amazing track for different situations and fitting with many styles. It has very complete sounds as well as very smooth transitions between sounds.
Ricardo Tobar – “Eleven”
As you might know, I am an absolute addict of good arps and moody melodies. This track is a mix of melodies and crisp sounding arps and moody pads that set you in a comfortable mysterious feel. Absolute bomb from Ricardo Tobar!
Agents of Time – “Era”
The video game-esque melodic bassline and synth sounds with constant modulation of the bassline make it a very entertaining track, reminiscent of Nintendo games. An absolute bomb from the artists which got me into this music style that inspires me so much.
Fango – “Amnios”
Although not absolutely recent as well, “Amnios” is an absolute bomb of dark emotions and vibes, with haunting stabs, synths and aggressive bass, entrancing any listener into the depths of darkness. This is my favorite track at the moment in terms of darker vibes!
Ovend – “Confidence”
Saving the best for last! My absolute favorite track since I heard it. Absolute perfection. I don’t know how to explain the nature of this bomb — an ongoing perfectly modulated arp, which disappears and reappears, cutting through your ears. Absolute perfection. Every time I listen to it I smile! Nine months but still shows perfection.
