Two people are dead and as many as 17 people have been shot at a nightclub on Sunday in Fort Myers, Florida. The horrific incident, which occurred less than two months after a gay nightclub shooting in Orlando that was the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, began when gunfire broke out at Club Blu Bar and Grill around 12:30 am. According to Club Blu’s Facebook, the club had put on a “teen night.” NBC station WBBH reported that both of those killed were male. Three people were detained for questioning early Monday.
In a statement, authorities said the Fort Myers police and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were “actively canvassing the area looking for other persons who may be involved in this incident.” The names of the victims were not immediately available.
