With remixes for a litany of artists including Gallant, Chicos, Big Data, SHARER, French Horn Rebellion and Solidisco under his belt, Brooklyn-based LEFTI (a.k.a. Alex Suarez) takes his music to the next level with his debut Somebody EP out today on Atlas Chair.
The one-named DJ/producer/songwriter delivers the heat with three funky, feel-good disco-house tracks that are destined to make dance floors all over the world sweat this summer. We checked in with the rising funk phenomenon and asked him to tell us about five fresh tracks he’s currently living for.
1. Loframes – “In Love With You”
I’m a big fan of these guys. This song really grabbed me right away the first time I heard it. I knew I had to start incorporating in my sets.
2. Louis La Roche – “Don’t Break My Heart”
This track isn’t on his latest EP but I love this song. Been playing this one out since its release and people seem to always get into it!
3. Solidisco – “Motion”
These guys always come rolling out heavy. This one is a great flip on a classic ’80s Madonna with a tight modern bass drop.
4. Arcade Fighters – “Gilberto Gil – Palco (Arcade Fighters ‘Extended’ Edit)”
These guys always impress me with tasty production and re-works/edits. Total tastemakers. This disco house edit just screams for a round of caipirinhas!
5. AM!R – “Dirty Whispers”
Last but not least, this flavorful groover. I’m a big fan of this tune. Chill vibe but still very funky which automatically sucks me in.
