Heightened security, anti-molly PSAs and drug-sniffing dogs couldn’t stop the wrath of Mother Nature yesterday. Severe thunderstorms rolled across the Northeast on Sunday forcing Made Event, the promoters behind New York’s three-day electronic-music festival Electric Zoo held on Randall’s Island in New York City, to shut down the third and final day.
Last year’s installment of the annual event was cut short after two attendees died over drug overdoses.
The festival tweeted: “Electric Zoo NY has been shut down for the remainder of the festival due to extreme weather conditions. We apologize to fans, but your safety is our main concern.”
At first artists such as Chase & Status didn’t believe the news of the festival’s cancelation:
Nothing like landing in NYC only to hear the festival has been cancelled because of the weather. Myth.

Others such as Alesso were simply stunned and disappointed by the news:
Nooooo I can’t believe this!! I was so looking forward to play @ElectricZooNY !!! looks like its clearing up? will the show go on? — ALESSO (@Alesso) August 31, 2014
What So Knot’s reaction was perhaps the best:
Sadly won’t be playing NYC today – Ezoo cancelled due to weather 🙁 who wants to hit the bar? @ElectricZooNY #ezoo2014 #ElectricZoo

According to a post on Made Event’s Facebook, an announcement will be made whether attendees will be compensated for the event’s closure due to weather.
