Hamburg housemeisters Piemont — Frederic Moring-Sack and Christian de Jonquieres — have been making beautiful music together for nearly a decade. After establishing a sound that references uptempo house and techno, they’ve issued tracks and remixes for Monika Kruse’s Terminal M, Area Remote, MBF and Skint and have two full-length albums top their credit. This month finds the duo releasing their formidable Moonless Air EP, a two-track groovefest that’s already in heavy rotation with the upfront set. To celebrate the new release, the guys created an exclusive 12-track Big Shot Guest Mix featuring their new jams as well as cuts from Oxia, Cera Alba, Claude VonStroke and Kim Ann Foxman.
“Summer returned even to Germany and that’s a pretty rare phenomenon,” the twosome tell us about the inspiration behind their mix. “This fact has inspired us to select more warm and summerish tunes for this mix. Also, we had received a bunch of beautiful promos lately which we really feel and which just fit the mix perfectly. Most of the tunes included are definitely our summertime jams of 2014.”
Currently looking forward to playing open-air gigs and working on their third full-length album, Piemont also report that they have upcoming releases in the pipeline on Exploited, Toolroom and Pleasurekraft‘s label, Kraftek.
“But the most important thing,” they offer with a smile about their summer plans, “is that we both will go on vacation for two weeks.”
Piemont’s Moonless Air EP is released July 15 on With Compliments Music. Piemonth play Draußen ist’s schöner Open Air in Berlin on July 6 and Sweatshop at ARM in Kassel, Germany on July 11.
