Track of the Moment: Slam’s “Minor Interruption” (Bek Audio)

Slam Minor Interruption

Two decades into their musical partnership known as Slam and Scottish techno titans Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle’s show no signs of slowing down. “Minor Interruption” on Gary Beck’s Bek Audio is the twosome’s latest monster, a full-on assault brandishing a ginormous kick drum powerful enough to take down Godzilla. While it’s currently en vogue in some genres for a track to be all about the climatic breakdown, this beast is thankfully unrelenting from the first note and finds the Slam boys once again driving with the petal to the metal. As a synth line chugs away and a nasty bassline bumps along, this demon continually builds and is hell-bent on taking no prisoners. A minor interruption has never been more appreciated.

Today the Milan-born dubstep/drum ‘n’ bass producer’s latest effort — his apocalyptic “Wuseng Dub” — was issued as part of the Sonic Carpaccio EP on Berlin’s Moniker Eggplant. Encompassing glitch, dub and bin-rattling beats, there are also three other worthy tracks from three artists that are worthy of your attention. Have a listen below and don’t fear the bleeper!

Track of the Moment: DJ Sneak & Murk’s “To The Bassline”

DJ Sneak & Murk - To The Bassline

Chicago meets Miami on this supremely funky union between house music legends DJ Sneak (who we all know has lived in Toronto for some time now) and Murk’s Oscar G and Ralph Falcon. Murk’s low-end theory, which dates back to early classics like 1992’s “Some Luvin’,” connects with Sneak’s skill for laying down some serious swing on a club tracks, is unquestionably a home run. The epic collaboration, which clocks in at ten minutes, is destined to be make dance floors sweat this summer, from Ibiza to points beyond. Look for its official release on April 14 via Berlin’s Exploited Records, featuring artwork by Berlin-based street artist Nomad.
