A Guy Called Gerald Channels DJ Sneak and Rips Deadmau5, Calls Him A “Rat Head F@#k”

We recently took Deadmau5 to task for the negative comments he made in his recent Rolling Stone cover story. In the article, Joel “Deadmau5” Zimmerman called Madonna a “grandma” and mocked David Guetta and Skrillex’s mixing skills. Legendary DJ/producer A Guy Called Gerald, who is perhaps best known for his classic “Voodoo Ray,” decided he had enough of Zimmerman’s comments and put a firey post on his blog today. “I agree there are loads of people like you who do fake it,” Gerald wrote. “It is easy with the software you are using. Don’t worry we are going to find ways of stopping you. You greedy rat head fuck.”

Recently DJ Sneak called out Swedish House Mafia (RIP) and entered into a Twitter war with Steve Angello over his distaste for their allegedly playing mix CDs during their DJ sets. Could we be seeing more of dance music’s old guard going after younger, more commercially successful young guns? Read Gerald’s full blog post below.

I know who you are. You are some record company or failed journalist asshole left over from the last century who is jealous of the way electronic music is working in this brave fast new century. The only button you and people like you are interested in pushing is a nuke for the Palestinians. You come into our system that we have nurtured for the last 25 years, trick hardworking people into giving you their money, con honest promoters, take large sums of money out of the system and then spit back into our faces that YOU are tricking everyone.

I agree there are loads of people like you who do fake it. It is easy with the software you are using. Don’t worry we are going to find ways of stopping you. You greedy rat head fuck.

DJs React to Paris Hilton’s DJ Debut on Twitter

They say bad things come in threes. In the world of dance music, Pendulum and Swedish House Mafia called it a day, and socialite Paris Hilton made her debut this past weekend at a party in Brazil. If you’ve seen the video from her performance (see clip below), then you’ll know that it isn’t a stretch to say it was an epic fail on many levels. While some gossip sites have declared Hilton’s set a success, it hasn’t gone down well with DJs and many took to Twitter yesterday to express their disdain. Florida breaks champion DJ Icey called her inroads into dance culture “a mockery” while trance jock Christopher Lawrence wondered, “Is this what EDM has become? Perhaps the best comment we came across was from a fan on YouTube who wrote, “I wasn’t even there and I want my money back.” Have a look below at what a few DJs had to say about Hilton’s maiden DJ voyage. Oh, and if you were wondering what Afrojack thought of his ex’s set, well, his lips were sealed.

DJs React To Swedish House Mafia’s Breakup on Twitter

Now that the world has had a day to process Swedish House Mafia‘s news that their upcoming tour will be their last, many of the trio’s peers have taken to Twitter to express their sentiments. DJ Sneak, who became embroiled in a Twitter-feud with Steven Angello in March, tweeted, “This is a game of chess & I just checked mate.” Other jocks like Armin Van Buuren were disappointed, calling the trio’s demise “a sad day for EDM” while some took the group to task for comparing themselves to The Beatles. Have a look at some of the tweets we culled and tell us what you think about SHM’s breakup.

Swedish House Mafia’s Next Tour Will Be Their Last

In a move that has surprised fans and music industry types, Swedish House Mafia have posted a message on their website announcing their upcoming tour will be their last. “Today we want to share with you that the tour we are about to go on will be our last,” the black-and-white message said. “We want to thank every single one of you who came on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved.”

The brief message alluded to what will likely be their farewell DJ tour. “The final leg of this journey will be announced in August.”

Whether or not you were a fan of Mafia’s’s music, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello achieved more success than most pop groups, headlining Madison Square Garden, Milton Keynes Bowl and Coachella and regularly selling out shows all over the world. They also created the revered Masquerade Motel party brand and linked up with Absolut Vokda for a campaign.

Though the Mafia’s members are being quiet about their decision, what is know is that the trio has changed management recently and some of the members have been taken to task for allegedly playing mix CDs and not DJing duirng their shows.

Before Winter Music Conference DJ Sneak called out Steve Angello and Swedish House Mafia in an interview, leading to testy exchanges with Angello on Twitter. In Big Shot‘s interview with DJ Sneak, he described the Mafia “a DJ fraud.” (Angello’s publicist said Angello had no comment.)

While some fans will be upset that their favorite group will no longer be touring and, presumably, not recording music (all of the members have solo careers), there’s a good chance DJ Sneak and a few other non fans will be walking around today with a big smile on their face.

The group’s last post on Twitter reads as follows: “Thank you. And goodnight.”
