2019 Rewind: Horsemen

Horsemen

How was 2019 for you?
Horsemen: Pretty wild to be honest. It was a big year with ups and downs. A proper emotional rollercoaster as well but finally getting back in the groove. Music is what keeps us going. Being creative, helping our friends and moving forward together. 2019 has shown to a year of ageing as in becoming more mature as musicians but also as people!

Highlights?
Premiere of  our track “Voltaire” on EELF, two ADE gigs with Friends with Benefits events. One at X BANK and one with DISCO//VERY on the Pollux Pacific. Our gig at Montreux Jazz Festival with Apér’House head Honcho Dimsum, which most certainly had the most amazing crowd ever. Also our summer, playing at DISCO//VERY in Berlin at the IPSE – this was a special experience filled with family vibes among friends. This of course also meant meeting so many cool and interesting people along the way. Lots of collaborations in the studio as well which is always fun and inspiring.

Lowlights?
Well, we shall not go into detail but I think our records speak for themselves as in how we feel from time to time. Depressed thoughts are no stranger to us. Also our challenge of being apart from another and staying a strong duo. Our music is our language and thankfully we keep on resonating with our productions and our friendship. Most of the records being released were made when we both lived in Berlin. Now that Morrison is back in Amsterdam, we do really have to come up with good work methods to keep the level and also to grow and do better. Most important thing is that we have fun. Horsemen is about doing something cool and doing some music to forget the time and express our feelings.

Song of the year?
OMG so hard. Even though this was not released in 2019, this track gets played in almost every set and is just the all-around perfect house track.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Hopefully more fun gigs to play out and stronger records on our label. We are also moving away from the lo-fi sound a bit and we are more into club focussed tracks. Grooves, strong basslines, proper vibes and, of course, some special Horsemen sauce on top.
