Detroit’s DJ Godfather (a.k.a. Brian Jeffries) has been championing the raw beats and grooves of Ghetto Tech since the ’90s. Known for running the Twilight 76 label and its assorted sub labels with partners DJ Dick and Brian Gillespie, he’s announced the launch of a new imprint: Dirty Knock. Said DJ Godfather, “With the success we’ve had with ghetto tech music over the years, and the influence we’ve had with new genres of music like twerk and trap music, we are ready to bring it all together under one roof!”
The label’s first release will be Godfather’s Dirty Rats, Booms N Claps EP comprised of “Where The Hoes in this House?’ featuring Oktored, “You So Flexable” featuring the deadmau5 collaborating MC Flipside and the “low-slung roller” “Super Swag” featuring Lil Mz 313.
Godfather reports that Dirty Knock has a slew of releases in the pipeline and teases that some feature big-name collaborations. The Motor City DJ/producer has also launched a weekly Dirty Knock Detroit club night taking place every Thursday.
