How was 2019 for you?
Lati Kronlund: 2019 has been a game-changing year for Brooklyn Funk Essentials, as we presented our new line-up fronted by Alison Limerick on lead vocals. We released our new album, Stay Good, as well as four singles that all did phenomenally well. But still, it’s at our live shows that we really feel the direct positive response from the audience, and we have had some amazing shows this year.

Highlights?
Our first ever gig in India was a real buzz. The insane Halloween funk fest at London’s CLF Art Café was a blast, and returning to Istanbul and Paris was really heartwarming. What was also very special for us was the Mochi Men remix release of our Frankie Knuckles co-penned song “Watcha Want From Me.” Great feeling to be back on the disco dance floors.

Lowlights?
We filmed a video for our single “Funk Ain’t Ova” in the moonscape hills of Lanzarote, and then the hard disk with the footage was lost. But we still got a really good video together in the end.

Song of the year?
So many great releases in 2019. “Rapture” by Koffee was definitely one of the hottest.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Stay Good – Funk Ain’t Ova.
