2017 Rewind: Al Bradley

Al Bradley

How was 2017 for you?
Al Bradley: It was class. The 3am move to vinyl back in 2016 gathered further pace with my own release in March. Plus, I’ve had a steady number of originals and remixes out through the year. I’ve been nice and busy with gigs around the UK and overseas, including four in Berlin and also a debut at ADE in Amsterdam. Back home I’ve been playing regularly at Distrikt and 212 here in Leeds, the former where I’ve played for almost eight years now, so it’s been great on home soil too. Oh yeah, my radio show on Pioneer DJ Radio has been really picking up too, so I can’t complain at all!

Highlights?
I’m going to use some music from a gig I didn’t play at for this, but hearing Francesco Del Garda & TC-80 play at Distrikt in September was immense; the music was inspirational and the vibe in the venue was taken to a whole other level. On a personal note, being picked to be main artist for Midnight Social Recordings’ 50th release is really special.

Lowlights?
I was meant to be playing in Ibiza during summer, so I’d booked flights, etc. but then the gigs got pulled due to issues with the venues and I lost all the money I’d paid out. Bummer.

Song of the year?
Without any shadow of a doubt, it’s Bobby O’Donnell “Within, Without” on the Mosaic Split series, just an absolute beauty of a track. Top guy, too!

What’s your New Year’s resolution?
To aim for more original tracks coming out on vinyl where possible, plus the next 12″ on Mujina Code, which is a label I run with Phil Towers. Also to get planning the 3am Recordings 15th birthday (which is in June) and the corresponding release for that! Just to make all these things as good as I possibly can. 🙂 I don’t really make personal NY resolutions, so they’ll have to do!
