2018 Rewind: Agent Orange

Agent Orange

How was 2018 for you?

Agent Orange: 2018 was really great for my Agent Orange project. I got to play some gigs in countries I’ve never been to before like Malta, Chile and Peru along with some of my more mainstays Holland and across the USA. Playing Ultra Miami for the second time and Electric Zoo for the third time was also fantastic for me.

Three of my music projects Agent Orange – “I’m Free,” my Armand Van Helden – “Witch Doktor” (Agent Orange DJ 2018 rework) and my DHS – House Of God (AzzidoDaBass remix vs Agent Orange update) — got some huge spins from the industry’s top players including Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Nicole Moudaber, Thomas Schumacher, UMEK, Christian Smith, Pagano, Paco Osuna, Pig&Dan, Monika Kruse, Loco&Jam, Spektre, D-Unity, Durtysoxxx and many more! A really proud moment for me.

Highlights?

Signing my Armand Van Helden – Witch Doktor (Agent Orange DJ 2018 rework) to Pig&Dan’s awesome Elevate label! And meeting the guys at ADE. I respect what the are doing so much, and they are great guys. I feel this project is just right for their label

The Drumcode party at Gashouder during ADE. ADE in general is always so much [about] seeing old and new friends and going to the techno temple is always next level. It really doesn’t get any better than that. Also playing at the Subtek party in Miami. Ultra Miami again was super fun and debuting my hybrid live set at Techno Tuesday Amsterdam was great.

Lowlights?

The passing of Anthony Bourdain was hard since I felt he was a voice for us “underground” people.

Song of the year?

The Advent – High Horse (Klockworks). Hearing Ben Klock play the promo of this track during his Klockworks night in the Gashouder at ADE 2017 totally blew my mind!! It really reminded me why I love techno so much. It really bangs. Happy to see it in full swing since it came out this year.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

To keep living my motto “Stay Young. Love Techno.” to the fullest! Also to keep working my best at being a good Dad to the best daughter in the world, Violet, and good husband to my awesome wife and talented DJ, Becka.

2018 Rewind: Félicia Atkinson

Félicia Atkinson

How was 2018 for you?

Félicia Atkinson: Life-changing! I toured, travelled and recorded my new and future album while being pregnant. I saw fjords and canyons, and in September I gave birth to my son! I also released two output: the tape Coyotes on Geographic North and an LP with Jefre Cantu Ledesma, Limpid As The Solitudes, on Shelter Press.

Highlights?

My live show with a grand piano at Issue Project Room last March in New York, and the same month Cal Arts students interpreting one of my scores during an Alison Knowles event.

Lowlights?

Reactionary politics in general, especially in the USA, Italy, Brazil… The destruction of the planet by its humans and the not welcoming politics in the world toward migrants.

Song of the year?

Kurt Vile – Bassackwards

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

I don t believe in New Year’s resolutions.

2018 Rewind: Jlin

Jlin_Planet_Mu

How was 2018 for you?

Jlin: 2018 was quite a learning experience for me. Overall, though I am very thankful for every opportunity I got last year.

Highlights?

Every show I got to perform Autobiography with Studio Wayne Mcgregor. Performing alongside of such phenomenal people is always exhilarating.

Lowlights?

I’m not sure what you mean by lowlights.

Song of the year?

I honestly don’t have a song of the year. I didn’t actually exactly keep up with anything musically this year.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

To continue evolving as a person.
