Every December since Big Shot launched in 2003 we’ve capped off the year with our annual Rewind, a sprawling year-end series of interviews with approximately 150 DJs based globally — up-and-coming to superstar — presenting their candid thoughts on the past 12 months of club gigs, festival appearances and productions.
While Rewind is a lot of work to produce, I looked forward to assembling these stories.
What’s more, I always discovered new music courtesy of the question “What was your track of the year?” that I would’ve most certainly missed.
In lieu of the dumpster fire that is 2020 and the havoc it has wreaked on DJ culture and the world, we won’t be presenting our annual Rewind this year. To do so didn’t seem right given the harsh blow the pandemic has dealt DJs and nightlife.
DJs are struggling financially, emotionally and spiritually, but there is hope in the form of vaccines that will hopefully bring the health crisis under control.
We wish you the best during these difficult times. Here’s hoping the world returns to some semblance of normality in 2021.
