July 11, 2014 will be remembered as a sad day for music.
Legendary jazz bassist Charlie Haden passed away at the age of 76. During his lengthy career Haden pushed musical boundaries on his instrument, performing with post-punk bands like the Minutemen to fellow jazz legends like Pat Metheny, Hank Jones and Keith Jarrett.
Later in the day we learned that original Ramones drummer Tommy Ramone had passed away at the age of 62. Tommy played on the iconic New York punk-rock band’s first three albums which changed the world.
Musical greats don’t come any more important than these two gentlemen, and several DJs took to Twitter to pay their respects to Haden and Ramone.
