Rising Berlin-based producer Pepe Mateos is on a self-appointed mission to release one track per month in 2021. The 12-part series will no doubt display his diversity when it comes to crafting music for the dance floor.
So far, Pepe, who has released tracks on Toolroom, Circus Recordings and Time Has Changed, is off to a bangin’ start having dropped the sinewy tech-house cut “La Vida” in January. On February 18, Mateos will unleash “Origen” which picks up where his previous release left off.
Ahead of the release of “Origen,” we asked Pepe to share his five tracks of the moment.
Stussko – Sureral (Original Mix)
I chose this track because it reminds me of some old-school house tracks back in the ’90s but with a modern twist.
Yamil – Woodhouse (Original Mix)
Yamil has been releasing truly emotional tunes that get stuck in my head every time I listen. This is a great example of his music.
Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Zlatnichi Vokalov Edit)
This Pink Floyd edit is a real masterpiece — a track where the background elements and effects with the added great punch make for a very solid composition.
Unknown – IB PK 1995 (Kirik Edit)
Again, another great re-vision by Kirik who’s music is a must right now in my sets.
G.Zamora – Cuerpos Celestes (Juan Soto Remix)
The last track in my top 5 is a very personal track with an old-school feel. It has been in my head for the last two weeks since I first listened to it. I will use it as a closing track with no doubt when the clubs open again.
