Tel Aviv-based DJ/producer Roy Brizman (a.k.a. Gel Abril) has been deep in the mix for years, dropping tech-house masterpieces for top-notch imprints including Ovum, Snatch! and Get Physical as well as his Closed Circuits label.

After releasing his Prolex EP on Francesca Lombardo’s Echoe imprint in August, Roy’s hypnotic track appears on Echolette & Echoe: In Retrospect, a compilation celebrating ten years of Echolette and younger sibling of Echoe.

As we get ready to say good riddance to the dumpster fire that is 2020, we asked Roy to share his five favorite tracks of the moment.

1. Barac – Let Your Life Be a Poem part 1

This is a great voyage from the Romanian master. It’s full of delicate grooves and subtle melodies.

2. Unknown – Track002A (Lizz Remix)

Lush vibes here from Lizz [as well as] rolling groves with some superb piano chords. This one is great to listen to at home with our current situation.

3. Mihai Pol – Feelit

“Feelit” is a hypnotic workout from Mihai Pol. I love the great esthetics of the sounds and the drums on this track.

4. userUNKNWN & Soyro – Universe

I have been playing this hammer of a track for a long time now. A great track by fellow Israeli producers Evgeni and Stan [with] lush melodies and powerful grooves.

5. Ion Ludwig – Think Music

This track is taken from Ion Ludwig’s album which is superb. This is super positive and an excellent piece of house music. I love it!
