2018 Rewind: Glenn Friscia

Glenn Friscia

How was 2018 for you?

Glenn Friscia: It was full of up and downs. More ups than downs, thankfully, which helped me get through all. Music is my life. Being in this business for 30 years, I’m grateful to wake up every day feeling blessed that I’m still able to do what I love.

Highlights?

DJing various parties in the Tri-State [New York] area. Producing and remixing records on Chicago’s legendary house label Music Plant, Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Music, Todd Terry’s InHouse, Jango and others has been really gratifying.

Lowlights?

The way the industry has changed and the different ways things are now. The lack of respect some DJs get in this business. So much is out there that art and artists seem disposable. This didn’t happen 20 years ago. Technology has made it so accessible that anyone with a laptop can be a DJ/producer even though they don’t have the necessary talent to back it up. It can be really frustrating.

Song of the year?

Au/Ra & Camelphat – “Panic Room”

What’s your New Year’s resolution

Continuing to do what I love. Plus more gigs, start a new podcast, more radio guest spots, doing original productions and more remixes like the upcoming Georgie Porgie & Barbara Tucker single. What an amazing vocal! Hope this is a great year for all of us!
