2018 Rewind: Little People

little_people

How was 2018 for you?

Laurent Clerc: It’s been a fairly intense and up-and-down year, but ultimately it’s been positive, culminating in some of my music that I’ve been sitting on for so long finally being released… I’m excited for it to finally see the light of day.

Highlights?

I’d say the birth of my third kid back in January definitely tops the list. From a professional standpoint, starting a new label (Future Archive Recordings) with a group of like-minded artists has been very gratifying. It has allowed us to maintain creative autonomy whilst creating a platform to support one another.

Lowlights?

Lowlight is quite a weird one… Back in the summer I discovered that I had a 26-year-old half brother I knew nothing about. While gaining a brother could easily be seen as a positive (and it maybe prove to be in time), the relationship with my dad’s has suffered. I’m still blown away by the fact he kept this hidden from me all this time…

Song of the year?

“Emerald Rush” by Jon Hopkins

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

Write and release way more music… I’ve not exactly been prolific up to this point!
