Argentinian-born and Ibiza-based Jonatan Tesei, who is more widely known as Kintar, is a prolific purveyor of ethno-house music. The owner of Sudam Recordings, he’s released simmering tracks on top-notch labels such as Suara, Global Underground, Toolroom and Terminal M.
Ahead of upcoming DJ sets at Raspoutine in Paris on October 13 and a pair of gigs at Amsterdam Dance Event — ADE 2018: D-Formation presents This Is Beatfreak at Club NL in Amsterdam and Esto es Tulum at Grand Café Heineken Hoek — on October 19, we asked Tesei to share five of his current favorite tracks for the dance floor.
1. Kintar & Delum – Sophie
I chose my own production in collaboration with Delum because it’s a track that marks a great time in my career. I’ve been producing this ethno sound since forever, when the rest of the DJs were telling me that it was too dark or underground for the industry. Now it became trendy. Music is always a lesson.
2. Dorian Craft & SEGG – Canta
One of my favorite tracks from this summer. I’ve been playing it since it was a demo for Sudam, and I knew it was fire. Dorian is one of those diamonds out there. I’m so glad to have him on board Sudam crew. About the tune I love the rhythm and the breakdown. It’s so emotive; it’s perfectly harmonized and the vocal is out of this world.
3. Frederick Stone – Lamentin
I’m a lover of percussion and this track is based on a percussive-rumble groove, and it has Fredrick´s on the vocals and the vibe is unique. Every time I play it, people is jumping with it. We need more music like “Lamentin.” ¡Vamos!
4. Themba – Who Is Themba?
With Themba we are brothers connected through music. This tune is so sick, has the Afro-house approach with that intrigue and arpeggio driving the tune to the sky with a massive break. Full of emotions with the strings that reminds me the Progressive sound of early 2000s. The drop is more massive, and the groove is even better later… Chapeu!
5. Upercent – Pulsacions (Jimi Jules Remix)
For the last one I chose this remix from Jimi Jules. I got the promo from Sincopat before the summer and automatically knew it would stay in my playlist for all the summer. It’s a track that changes any dance floor’s mood instantly. Also went to couple of times to Hï Ibiza and Black Coffee was dropping it. Same energy with the crowd. Jimi is another genius out there. Respect.
