Leeds-based Jey Kurmis is part of a contingent of talented house music producers from the north of England who’ve been coming on strong during the past few years. Since his first release on Phobic Records back in 2010, he’s gone on to forge a running association with Hot Creations and fire off red-hot releases and remixes on VIVa Music, Resonance Records, Moon Harbour, Kaluki Musik and Wow! Recordings.
Kurmis, whose sinewy tech-house sound is dripping with energy and soul, concludes 2017 with his banging track “Es Est” for ON IT Recordings.
The release features equally energetic remixes by Newcastle’s Mark Jenkyns and London-based Twisted Fusion label boss Apollo 84.
Ahead of the single’s release on December 15, we caught up with the man himself and asked him to share his five tracks of the moment.
Francisco Allendes & Pablo Inzunza – “Dogo”
I love this track. I think their production skills are fantastic and I play it a lot!
Andre Salmon – “Da Thing”
This track has a really good groove. When it’s dropped in the clubs a positive vibe is always felt.
Jamie Jones – “The Capsule”
I selected this track because it’s one of my all-time favorites. It’s a classic and will never be forgotten. For anyone who hasn’t heard it — well, they will!

Claude VonStroke – “Deep Throat”
The clever production of this track and hearing it out on the dance floor was actually a huge influence on why I make music today. A great track and guy!

Jey Kurmis – “Mellco”
I’ve included my newest track as I have been enjoying playing this out so much, and I have been receiving lots of support on it too.
