Mat.Joe 5 Tracks of the Moment

mat.joe

Prolific Berlin house DJ/producer duo Mat.Joe — Matze and Johannes — have worked hard in recent years to craft a signature style that infuses R&B and hip-hop with deep basslines and wicked grooves. In the past few weeks alone the prolific Teutonic twosome’s “Weego” was featured on Claptone’s The Masquerade compilation on Defected; they dropped their Brothers In Crime EP on Mother Recordings; and showed their techier side on their kick-ass remix of Kydus’ “Nonstop Nonsense” on Hot Trax. Currently in the midst of a seven-city North American DJ tour, we caught up with the guys and asked them to fill us in on five tracks currently rocking their world.

Mat.Joe played Mono in Mexico City on November 17; Monarch in San Francisco on November 18; Global Dance Festival in Phoenix (daytime show) and Bang Bang in San Diego on November 19.

Emanuel Satie vs. Roberto Rodriguez feat. Max C – “Ride Your Body” (Sabb Afterdark Mix)
This guy…really lovin’ the vocal and how his phrasing keeps the energy throughout the track! Instant good vibes on the dance floor, no matter what the situation.

Jesse Rose – “Black Twitter”
Bam! This jam is amazing! Big up for this dope tune! Less is more and Jesse Rose is on fire with this one — a minimalist’s dream but one that has maximum impact. Love it.

The Deepshakerz – “Body Matter”
Such an organic groover, something that is going to work super well on our Brazil tour especially but seems to be going down pretty well everywhere else as well.

PAWSA – “Angel Dust”
Big stomper by one of the driving forces of DAWN Afterhours LDN. The whole EP is tight but “Angel Dust” is definitely our favorite. Getting lots and lots of plays from us at the moment.

Vitalic – “Ooey”
French madness! This track is so twisted, a little Italo even. Very unique and innovative elements at play here: in less skillful hands it could be a mess, but this is just sublime.
