Javier Orduña 5 Tracks of the Moment

javier orduna

Barcelona DJ/producer Javier Orduña came of age in the ’80s amid the groundbreaking sounds of Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys and Joy Division. Discovering the emerging musical hotbed of Detroit eventually put him on a path to explore techno and contribute tenfold to the genre.

With releases on Visionquest, ViVA Music and Moda Black (his Diablitos EP collaboration with Upercent issued this summer is particularly noteworthy), his recent Fool Again EP on Jeudi Records finds him going further down the rabbit hole with four dreamy, brooding offerings where his musical past and present coalesce. We checked in with the Spanish master and asked him to share five tracks that are currently in heavy rotation.

1 Deo & Z-Man – “Rentless Wilderness”
It’s something really special with a classic sound. It’s true music, one of my favorite tunes of this year.

2. Ardyn – “The Valley” (Tom Demac’s VHS Remix)
I choose this one because Tom Demac’s is on fire and also because it’s a track that I use to open or close my DJ sets.

3. Bambook feat. Joel Hood – “Not The One”

It’s a perfect tune. I’m on it 100 percent — nice groove, nice voices, just a brilliant track perfect for the dance floors.

4. John Monkman & Pete Tong – “Aurora”
A brilliant work of John and Pete, this track has all the great ingredients for a good salad.

5. Guy Gerber – “Secret Encounters”
This is my favorite. I think any explanation is not necessary, but I will tell you that I chose it because it’s a super hypnotic, brilliant techno tune that can help you to travel anywhere.
