Last summer we connected veteran DJ/producers and close friends Sydney Blu and Jessie “The Scumfrog” Houk for a hilarious and insightful interview. Blu had just released her full-length debut, Relentless, on Black Hole Recordings, and Houk was about to drop “Spin” on Blu’s Blu Music imprint. When we found out that Blu was going to throw her debut Blu Party in Detroit during Movement — a shindig at Bleu nightclub featuring Blu on the decks along with an all-star lineup featuring Christian Martin, Gene Farris, The Saunderson Brothers and Landis LaPace — we asked her to snap a few exclusive photos so we could see the techno extravaganza through her eyes. From doing radio interviews to throwing her event to catching DJ sets by the likes of Seth Troxler, A Take of Us and Stacy Pullen, the photos reveal that Blu had quite a memorable time in the Motor City.
The next Blu Party featuring Sydney Blu, Joeski, Weiss and more is on June 18 at Sunnyside Pavillion in Toronto. More info here. Images courtesy of Sydney Blu.
