French house DJ/producer Fred Falke has contributed his fair share of big tunes tailored for the dance floor for well over a decade. Embedding his bespoke productions and DJ sets with infectious energy and a forward-thinking pop ethos, he’s reimagined songs in thoroughly refreshing ways for the likes of Hot Chip, Grizzly Bear, Metronomy, La Roux and fellow countrymen Justice.
Currently dividing his time between Los Angeles and France, Falke is set to play a major soirée in his adopted hometown at Sound Nightclub on May 14. The bill also features Louis La Roche, jackLNDN, January Black and Channel One & Ford Prefect (b2b).
In advance of the party presented by Ouija Entertainment and L’Affaire Musicale, we checked in with Monsieur Falke and asked him to share his five favorite tunes of the moment.
1. MØ – “Don’t Wanna Dance” (Zimmer Remix)
Love the vibe here. Lightweight and uplifting, it’s a no-brainer.
2. Gorgon City ft. Katy Menditta – “Imagination”
No matter when this one comes in, it’s always the right time. I love the intro with the organ and the vocals — such a contrast with this tremendous chorus and the beat is bouncing!
3. The Killers – “Mr. Brightside” (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Mix)
You can’t go wrong with classics, and this is one of the best classic ever. Awesome remix.
4. Ed Sheeran – “I See Fire” (Kygo Remix)
Another remix I love. The melody is simple and beautiful. Add Ed Sheeran’s vocals on top and of course the result is superb!
5. Foxes – “Let Go For Tonight” (Fred Falke Remix)
Add a mirrorball and this one turns instantly any dance floor into a Studio 54 party!
