Funky French phenom Ludovic Llorca has dropped his share of jazz-inspired downtempo masterpieces for respected labels including 2020 Vision, F Communications, Room With A View, Foliage, Atjazz Recording Company, Local Talk and Reel People Music.
Under his Art Of Tones house alias, however, Llorca ups the BPMs and focuses his aim squarely on the dance floor. When he’s producing tracks of AOT, it’s all about crafting uptempo tracks bathed with soul and disco vibes.
Llorca recently contributed an AOT remix of London songstress FitzRoy’s “Blind Faith” released last month on Jalapeno Records. It’s pure magic. Curious to know which songs are in heavy rotation at Casa Llorca, we asked the man himself to share his five tracks of the moment.
Fabrikate – On And On (Boombass Remix) (Kookoo)
Boombass, half of the Cassius duo, is back to his house roots with this funky and dirty remix that reminds me of the best Murk tracks.
Madcat – Les Gens Du Livre (Pont Neuf)
Pont Neuf is one of the best french electronic labels. Period. This one has been on repeat since I received it two months ago. Madcat rules!
Unknown – Baby Baby Please (ART001)
No info about this fantastic track released last year on vinyl, blending Thelma Houston “Don’t Leave Me This Way” and Laurie Anderson “Oh Superman.” Big tune!
Akwassa – Be Yourself (Africa Airways 6) (Africa Seven)
One of the little gems that can be found on the sixth volume of the unmissable Africa Airways series.
Idris Muhammad – Could Heaven Ever Be Like This – The Reflex Revision
The Reflex takes on this classic jazz-funk masterpiece with a beautiful and energetic remix! Classy!
