Mont Blvck 5 Tracks of the Moment

Mont-Blvck-5-tracks

L.A.-based Gari Recs is run by Anabel Englund, Human Life, Mont Blvck (a.k.a. singer-songwriters/instrumentalists/DJs Jackson Englund and Latin Grammy-winning Diego Cuevas Casale) and Matt Ossentjuk. Their modus operandi is about working collaboratively to realize their creative aspirations.

After the release of “Rising,” a track featuring all five members of the Gari fam, the label returns in a big way with Mont Blvck’s “Letting Go.” The sleek, ethereal club track available today and brandishes remixes by Huxley, Franky Rizardo and Martinet.

Big Shot caught up with Jackson and Diego a few days before the release of “Letting Go” and asked them to share their five tracks of the moment.

Anabel Englund, Matt Ossentjuk, Human Life, Mont Blvck – Rising (Original Mix) – Gari Recs
It was really fun collaborating on this track with our crew, Gari Safari. This was the first release on our label, Gari Recs, and we were very excited to have gotten remixes by wAFF, Amtrac and SHADED. This one got a great response when we played it live at Gari Safari this past year.

Ben Sterling – Ciao (Original Mix) – Origins Rcrds
This one really caught our attention while listening to Jamie Jones’ set at Time Warp this year. We’ve been playing out this past summer and it always gets the crowd moving. Ben Sterling’s minimal rolling basslines and funky vocal sampling always adds a unique element to the set.

Paco Wegmann – Yakuza (Original Mix) – Hottrax
Both of us play the drums and this is a track where you can feel the beat right up front. We love how it keeps the live feel of the percussions while still maintaining that heavy low-end of a proper tune. Definitely a fun one to play.

Anthony Middleton – Till The End Of… (Just Be Remix) – Get Physical
Whether we’re warming up the party or playing a sunrise set this tune always seems to catch the vibe. We love how this song has influences of disco/funk and the ’80s while maintaining a darker groove. This is a sound that inspires us while making new music and creating playlists for our sets.

iO (Mulen) – Germanium – Mulen Records
Our good friend and Gari Safari collaborator, Matt Ossentjuk, hooked us onto the sound of iO (Mulen). iO hadn’t released music in the last couple years and we were really stocked when he put this one out a few months ago on his label, Mulen. We love the style he brings to the table merging trippy jazz elements with a classic sound that still keeps the energy of the modern times.
