London-based DJ/producer DJ S.K.T is laser focused on adding new wrinkles to the fabric of house, bass and UK garage. But from time to time he pays homage to dance music’s past by reimagining classic dance floor tracks.
Among his many musical exploits he’s reimagined Nightcrawlers’ 1992 dance floor classic “Push the Feeling On” in 2014 and his Up-Tempo Records recently released Richey Profond’s remix of Crystal Waters’ seminal 1991 crossover cut “Gypsy Woman.” He joined forces with NYC house icon Todd Terry on “Nite & Day,” an uptempo track just released on Armada Subjekt propelled by a generous sample of the same-named 1988 R&B classic by Al B. Sure!
Currently holding down a new weekly show on Kiss FM with several releases about to drop later this year, we asked S.K.T, who has manned the decks at Cream (Ibiza), We Are FSTVL, Sankeys Manchester, to share five brand-new tracks currently dominating his DJ sets.
1. Will Clarke & Bot – “Lil Mami”
Real dirty bassline-driven track which came out as the B-side to “Techno.” Works really well on any dance floor!
2. Emanuel Satie feat. Sergy – “All the Time”
Love the vocal on this and the lead synth! Been hammering this on the radio and in the clubs!
3. Camelphat – “Lizard King”
A wicked use of the old-school vocal, I love what they’ve done with the track. Definitely an anthem at the moment!
4. Bontan – “Personal Question”
Bontan always gets it right for me and this track is no different! Loving the bassline groove on this!
5. Billy Kenny & Kyle Watson – “Wiggly Worm”
Got this track through a few weeks ago, and I’m really liking it! It’s got quite an old-school feel but with a modern twist. Definitely looking forward to playing this out!
