The first edition of the 18th annual Electric Daisy Carnival seemingly went off without a hitch yesterday. A sold-out crowd packed themselves into Las Vegas Motor Speedway and witnessed the shock and awe that is EDC. Insomniac debuted a dramatic new kineticFIELD stage featuring a cathedral theme that presented the DJ booth as a giant pipe organ, and flanked by two massive owls with outstretched wings. It is the largest stage in Insomniac history, spanning 440 feet wide and 80 feet tall. The structure features more than 1,000 lighting fixtures, 30 lasers, and requires 2.5 million watts of power. Twenty art installations were scattered throughout the grounds for fans to explore and some fans took part in non-legal commitment ceremonies. The second day of EDC Las Vegas kicks off tonight at 7 pm.
