While he’s only been releasing music for a few years, Berlin house explorer Wankelmut (a German term for “fickleness”) is no stranger to getting his music to a wider audience. In 2012 he crafted a breakthrough remix of Israeli singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan’s “One Day/Reckoning Song” which was followed by his massive original production “My Head Is A Jungle” feat. Emma Louise in 2013. After dropping Wankelmut feat. John Lamonica’s “Wasted So Much Time” in April, this month he presents the second volume of his Wankelmoods series for Get Physical, a compilation that touches on his passion for house and techno featuring prime cuts by Ian Pooley, Booka Shade, Zoo Brazil, Adriatique and Climbers. We asked the rising star to share his five favorite tracks on SoundCloud, and he happily complied.
1. Fat Sushi – “Perfect Timing”
Bad-ass house music from the Swiss duo out now on Hive Audio. This track works all over the world and has not left my box in 2014.
2. Hot Since 82 – “Like You” (Audiojack’s Ruff Cutt)
The Audiojack guys reworking the Hot Since 82 classic in their Ibiza style — this is a must-have for 2014 on Get Physical.
3. Soulphiction – “When Radio Was Boss”
Soulphiction (a.k.a. Jackmate) is a true legend of German house music. People like him are the foundation for my generation of DJs and producers. This is his latest release on DJ Koze’s Pampa label.
4. GusGus – “Crossfade” (Maceo Plex)
This will be a big track for the summer of 2014. Lots of DJs are playing it. I really adore the big-room production of this remix out now on Kompakt. This release also features another great remix by Konstantin Sibold.
5. Schleppgeist – “Stupid Guy”
A German underground track which never leaves me. A good four years old, this track is still doing very well within my DJ Sets. Looking forward to collaborating with Schleppgeist on a future Wankelmut release very soon.
